Scan Failed Error

We are seeing the following error in patch logs on multiple PCs and would like to understand why the error is occurring:

PROCEDURE operation failed. Error while scan avaliable patches. Error: -2145107924. 0 patch(es) successfully installed. 0 patch(es) installation failed.
