  • Send toast notification

    Happy new year fellow ITarians!

Attached you will find a configurable procedure script that allows you to send a toast notification to an endpoint's user. This is great for passive notifications that do not need to necessarily be acknowledged, for example in the case of background maintenance. Run this as Logged in user.

This script has several parameters that can be configured for run time:

Title: The title of the toast notification
Message: The message you wish to send. It's better to keep this as short as possible.
Icon: Choose from Info, Warning, or Error
Timeout: The length of time you want the notification to appear before it automatically disappears (specified in milliseconds/ms).

This script is great and works well on a lot of devices but we are finding that we are getting the following message on some devices
        “Rmm Service, exe-Application error
The exception unknown software exception (Oxe06d7363) occurred in the application at location 0x76bfc42d”

Any help from the Itarian team to what this means?

          StrobeTech ,

I haven't encountered this across the endpoints I've tested it on (Windows 7 x86/x64 and Windows 10 x64) with this script and do apologize for the inconvenience. As I do not work for ITarian/Comodo I can't say for sure why RmmService is crashing when running this script -- what version of Windows is installed on the endpoint and what are the parameters being passed?

            Hi Kristan

This is not happening on all devices. But here is a quick summary of some of the devices that fail: -
            Windows 7 Pro x86
            Windows 7 Pro x86 SP 1
            Windows 7 Pro x64
            Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1
            Windows 10 Pro x64

Title was something like "Strobe IT Maintenance" and the content was something like
"The Strobe IT Maintenance is about to start. During this period your computer might run slightly slower which is normal."

With the time I believe it was 200000 or something similar, unfortunately i cannot check as already removed the task as it was causing the errors mentioned.
