Dome Shield 1.11 Released!

We are happy to announce the global availability of Dome Shield 1.11. All previous versions are updated to the latest version with no issues and service interruptions.

What’s New:

  • Secure your Mobile Devices: A new tool for protecting your mobile devices, iOS and Android, is just released. You can send out VPN profiles of Dome Shield to your mobile users and start applying Shield policies to your mobile devices. This will help our MSPs to protect their mobile devices on and off-network across 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE cellular networks and Wi-fi.
  • Roaming Agent Improvements:
    • Trusted Network Behaviour: Once enabled (go to Configure > Networks > Add or Edit Network), Roaming Agent installed PCs will be applied by Network Policies, if they go behind a predefined network. Roaming Agent will disable itself automatically. This improvement will help Active Directory communication and local domain resolving issues to be resolved. We recommend a DHCP enabled network configuration per company network to be used with this feature. In summary, a Roaming Agent installed laptop will start to get local DHCP configuration if goes behind company router.
    • Captive Portal Sensing: With the new release, Dome Shield Roaming Agent automatically senses if goes behind a captive portal and disables itself to provide uninterrupted web access for installed PCs. After captive portal authenticates the laptop, Dome Shield Roaming Agent automatically enables itself again.
  • Check Domain Categories: By clicking "Check Domain Categories" on the Policy page, you can simply query our domain database and learn about the categorization of the domains. You can also provide feedback for reclassification.
What's Coming Next with Shield 1.12:
  • Dome Shield iOS and Android App: With the upcoming Mobile App for Dome Shield, iOS and Android, users will have the capability of monitoring their web traffic over their mobile devices, start and stop protection with a single click.
and there will be much more to come...

We will keep you posted. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, feel free to ask below and don’t forget to set your DNS to 8.26.56.10 - 8.20.247.10, it’s free !

great job guys! Looking forward to the Mobile Apps with a single click protection!

I still see a non default block page isn’t displaying on roaming agents. Any idea when this will be working ??

1,not the problem, I have created my own block pages with my logo, these are not displaying on roaming agents as they do when associated to a network.

2, again when visiting a customers site internal DNS doesn’t work, somehow you need to reference the DNS given by DHCP.

Hi @dittoit ,

We were informed that use of a Customized Block Page for Roaming Agents is still in analysis and planned implementation is yet to be determined. And we would like to apologize for the earlier information that has been posted. With regards to Internal DNS not working when a Roaming Agent is connected, you can try and edit your Network settings to reflect needed Internal DNS settings thru Configure > Network > Add Network > Additional Settings > Host file configuration

You can also visit the link below to know more about DNS configuration on Dome Shield :

Hi @maximillianx,

We thank you for the information and we will have this checked and revised by our Technical Writer Team.

@bulut are there any other ways to deploy the VPN configuration for iOS devices? We are using Outlook for iOS (currently the recommended Email client for O365). The mobile configuration profile cannot be opened by the Outlook app. I tried saving in to OneDrive but that also wouldnt work. Any chance that a dynamic link could be emailed to download the profile, similar to the way that device enrollment works on C1.

Are there any plans to integrate the mobile app components in to C1’s MDM. Ie id profile option -> VPN - > cDome Profile.

Hey Joners,

We have tested it right now to make sure whether it can be done on Outlook App or not.

Here are the steps:

  • Click to attachment.
  • A new screen opens with Email and Save buttons. Click to the icon on the upper right side of the window.
  • Click "Save to Files"
  • Select the folder you wish(e.g iCloud Drive) and then hit Add
  • Go to Files and tap on the VPN Profile.
  • You will be taken to installation screen.
I'm adding some screenshots as well, hoping they could help.

Meanwhile, if you still prefer links, please send a mail to domesupport@comodo.com and we will help you out. But even with that, iOS will require you to download the profile to a folder such as iCloud and then follow the steps 4-5-6.

We will be introducing a mobile app that can be installed with a single click in our upcoming release.
