Greetings all,
I’m curious to see if any MSP is using JumpCloud for replacing AD, IAM/SSO and/or MFA. We looked at it several years ago and recently took another look.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
Greetings all,

We have a couple customers using it.
Does have some great features, but you have to make sure you have good reason to use it; one example with have is our limited number of clients that use Google Workspace; they do not have desktop integration so this fills the gap giving them a single user account with control for all.
Hello,
I am interested to learn if any MSPs are using JumpCloud to replace Active Directory, Identity and Access Management / Single sign on or multi factor authentication. We evaluated Jump Cloud previously and recently revisited it. If you have insights or experiences with JumpCloud in an MSP setting, I had appreciate hearing about them.
Thank you!
Hello @ntelogic
Hello Matt,
Yes, there are Managed Service Providers (MSPs) that are using JumpCloud as a replacement for traditional Active Directory (AD), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Single Sign-On (SSO), and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solutions. JumpCloud offers a cloud-based directory service that can manage user identities, access to devices and IT resources, and enforce security protocols like MFA.
For instance, Syn Ack Fin (SAF), an MSP based in Denver, Colorado, has been using JumpCloud to improve consistency, security, and user experience for their clients. They’ve integrated JumpCloud with their environment and require their clients to use JumpCloud or a similar tool. SAF is considering retiring AD altogether due to its bulkiness and the learning curve it requires, especially with the prevalence of remote work.
JumpCloud’s platform supports a variety of systems including Windows, Mac, and Linux, and it can connect to SAML portals and client portals, making it a versatile tool for MSPs. It also allows for bi-directional identity sync, enabling full remote management of AD users from the cloud.
Many MSPs find JumpCloud to be an excellent solution when their clients need more than just Microsoft-based solutions, and it’s being used as a complete replacement for AD, Azure AD, and Intune. JumpCloud’s open directory platform aims to enable better security with authentication protocols like MFA, better visibility with the Multi-Tenant Platform (MTP), and more efficiency by centralizing IT processes.
It’s worth noting that the decision to replace AD and other systems with JumpCloud should be based on the specific needs and circumstances of each organization. If you’re considering JumpCloud for your MSP, it might be beneficial to conduct a thorough evaluation of your current infrastructure and requirements to determine if JumpCloud is the right fit for you.
I hope this information helps you in your decision-making process!
Best regards,
Sonia Alvareo
