By “our services”, I tried to mean anything Comodo ; ITSM, RMM, Patch Management, Dome, cWatch and everything coming from our roof
As @melih stated, we will never ever make unfair advantage by counting requests sent to our internal services. 300K only covers external DNS requests, excluding Comodo service lookups.
I think the main thing people are missing here is that you will NOT lose the internet once you hit this limit, it means you will not be able to change your categories and security settings once the limit is hit. So you are safe, but have a chance of being inconvenienced if you want to make a change.
Could you please provide details about the issue you experienced? Dome Shield is up and running without any problems and we are not reported any issues related to this.
Exactly. The only real inconvenience that I can see having an impact is if you’re trying to add new roaming agents to the mix during the middle of the month if you’ve gone over the request limit. One thing to note is that deploying the use of ad-blocking extensions in browsers such as uBlock Origin for example is a good way to cut down on unnecessary DNS requests.
Hi It looks like there is a problem with our Comodo one/Itarian account linking to our Dome Shield licensing. when i select “Dome Shield” from our applications drop down on our web dashboard it takes me to the Dome Shield login page but selecting “Comodo One” login errors but if i just enter my username and password again on the Dome Shield login page it logs in but it looks like it is not linked to our Comodo One/MSP setup. is it possible to re-link/re register Dome Shield to our Comodo One?
Hi Marveltec,
The team has investigated the issue and working on the fix. It will be fixed with the next release, which is planned to be done next week.
Thanks a lot for pointing this out.
What is the issue you are experiencing with your customer? If this customer has been in a Shield Policy to protect their network, then passing 300K will not stop any protection or regulation. That customer will and should continue being protected by the existing policy.
Are you talking about being unable to include a new customers of yours into a Policy?
Free DNS Protection is one of the reasons I stuck with C1 (even through the bad times and being a lab rat for all the glitches, and there were plenty of them).
I would argue that the cap should be removed and allow the “Free DNS Protection” to be a value-added selling point to draw people to ITarian, because frankly the RMM market is saturated and ITarian is not even the first to attempt a RMM + App Store concept (sorry guys but SyncroMSP is way ahead of you here and their flat monthly fee is very affordable considering you can get BitDefender from them for $1.00 an endpoint).
If the Platinum version adds enough value then people will switch.
Also, irrelevant to cDome, but I’m concerned about ITarian overall. Looking at what you guys are charging for Acronis (you can buy 1TB of cloud storage for $70 from Acronis, you guys are charging $175). Kind of makes me think that you might charge ridiculous prices for other apps.
the charging system is pretyt much the opposite of syncro… Flat fee with free integration (and they provide cheap pricing for products such as bit defender, emsisoft and cloudberry…)
Not to mention sycnro has a psa system that is taking shape fast, and developing quickly into a powerful system. the fact that is costs more for AEM through itarian than it did through comodo as a partner should be a pretty good indicator of the way its going.
I think the ITarian platform still has potential, but it’s very painful to buy Comodos products when (A) the prices on the C1/ITarian Dashboard don’t match the reseller pricing and (B) the reseller portal is a complete joke. If Comodo makes it that hard to buy products at the correct partner price from their own platform then this whole app store concept going to be an entirely different monster.
@melih here me out on this, please find a way to make it easier and less painful to buy products from Comodo for ITarian. Find a way to have partner pricing match the pricing on the ITarian “checkout” dashboard, and for the love of god get rid of that reseller portal, it’s insanely convoluted to navigate and mine is missing AEP, Secure Web Gateway, EDR, and many other products so I don’t know why it’s even their. I would have probably switched from Webroot to AEP already if it weren’t for these issues.
I think that your statement is not a fair representation on how C1 started out. I remember being onboarded by a Comodo representative to use ITSM as a “IT Security Manager”, not Service Manager. It was this that differentiated it from ConnectWise, GFI, ManageEngine, etc… Its only really changed to, as you put it, an “IT Management” tool, since ITarian took over.
This is yet another example of not thinking things through thoroughly before making the change. Whether that is ITarian or Comodo is irrelevant to us (your customers), you cannot expect to retain loyalty when you offer us a free service and then when we embed it, enforce a license change that makes us pay.
In this instance, you have told us less than 10 days in advance that you are reducing our ability to use a service. We also only find these things out via a forum that many of us will only visit when we have an issue we want support with. I never received an email saying that services would change and detailing how they would affect me.
As for the statement about protection being maintained, i’ve found that to be bullshit. DNS resolution across all our customer base has aoppeared to be reduced significantly since early november, leaving me to think that there is throttling when you hit the 300k. You may say there isn’t, but at this stage its difficult to believe anything that is said. I’ve already stated removing the cDome DNS Servers from customers routers, replacing with 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 services, due to sites having issues with resolving DNS names and seen an immediate improvement in speed, indicating that the DNS service is indeed slower.
I’m fast losing patience with the ITarian Platform (or C1 depending on what you want to call it) for the way things are currently going. Performance is a constant issue and now we are having the functionality that makes us willing to remain on the system taken away, the solution is losing its attraction.
I fear that, despite the continued rhetoric I read from ITarian people on here, that this product is not going to survive as a free product. I struggle to see how the “Marketplace” philosophy you want to use is going to sustain the development.
If your having issues with licensing have your tried using a distributor like us for this?
We take the pain out of buying the Comodo Security products that link into your ITarian management platform, and should be at a reasonable price.
Would be interesting to know who sold you the system like this, C1 as it was has only ever been a management and control system. AEP or CCS was the AV and protection side which was managed by ITSM.
You have always had to pay for CCS, but you get ITSM FREE to manage it. This is the way nearly all AV systems are; except ITSM adds RMM features as well as configuration for your AV.
I believe you have a valid point here on the notice of change. We use and distribute the software and still had no information earlier than you state.
We as a company new changes were coming and that a new back engine was being installed to help with speed issues that were being received; but the caps and prices were not announced correctly.
Comodo and ITarian are always learning and listening, partners like us and you can always make a difference here, we just need to be constructive and present this information to the team so they can look at all the information and improve.
Unfortunately with Dome Shield it is a security product, and all security products are Comodo. Comodo charges for its security systems.
ITarian is a management and monitoring system which is FREE and has been stated to be always FREE (Please correct me if I’m wrong)
Changes are always tough and not easy but are much needed.
Yes, 10 days heads up through the forum is not the best way to handle this situation 3-6 months is fair (IMO).
I’m actually glad that Comodo and ITarian are separated because it starts the process of removing the confusion between IT Management and IT Security, as time goes by and both teams continue to listen to the community and make sound changes that benefit both parties I believe we all will benefit in the long run.
